And Beliar shall be bound by him, And he shall give power to his children to tread upon the evil spirits. Similar hope comes to expression in T. Sim. 6:5–6 and T. Zeb. 9:8. The assurance that human beings will have power to “tread upon” or subdue the evil spirits means that these spirits will no longer be able to harm them. Such clearly seems to be the meaning of Jesus’ statement to the seventy when they return from their mission, reporting that they have found the demons subject to them in his name:
